We don't have to depend on FDIs

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

That is what Tun M said here.

I am very much subscribed to his opinion.  We had had a period of intensive FDI growth rate for the past few decades, especially in the years when the tun was in charged.  As a result, we had generated enough talents, technology and knowledge to do businesses that was once were alien to us.

With little incentive or development package from the government, we are in a position to entice the local talents to take a bigger role in the nation building and contribute an even bigger impacts than what the foreign multinationals can.

That was what once Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore had been doing.  And now China is doing the same too.  Their learning pace are very face, thanks to their policy makers who are very objective and have a clear vision where are there going to - well that would sound sarcastic to someone nearby, hahaha.

Nevertheless, still FDIs are crucial, especially in the area where we are lacking of expertise and experience.  You can't live in the global world on your own anyway.

There are not only good cops & bad cops...

but also good accountants and bad accountants out there.

The case of Aminurasyid Amzah, the Seremban's Teenager Shooting case, Altantuya, Teoh Beng Hock, Kugan and many others have highlighted the existence of good and bad cops (and other authorities as well).  Well, actually it depends on the perspective you take on the issues.

For instance, in my personal opinion , in the case of Aminurasyid's death, the police are not to be blamed 100 per cent.  It's obviously the combination of sequence of events that enticed the case to take place.  The same goes to the rest in the above list. Jadi, amat kasihan saya melihat abang polis dalam Buletin Utama semalam yang ditahan reman atas tuduhan menembak mati remaja terbabit.  Baca kisahnya di sini.

But for others, such as my favourite Mr. Khoo Kay Peng, they have a totally different view.  Read Mr Khoo and his band of racist followers' opinion here.

Enough said. What I am trying to convey in the beginning of the post was this: "Pentingnya akauntan beretika".  The subject really caught my eyes.  Read full article here.

Mungkin kerana perkembangan terbaru di tempat saya cari makan, tajuk ini agak sensitif tetapi menarik perhatian saya.  And also very true. There are good accountants and bad accountants out there - walking freely (and happily after 'earning' their outstanding bonus due to their 'excellent' conducts) without the feel of guiltiness in their soul.  But still, they are not the worse beings on earth.  The real culprits are - their bosses (and their bosses' bosses'), from whom the instructions came from.  It's complicated, though!

So, look out for these guys (the accountants and their bosses) - and be careful.  They are among us - they look like us, behave like us, act like us - but they don't think like us. Watch out!!

Greek Debt Crisis and Investment in Gold

Monday, May 10, 2010

I wrote on investing in gold not too long ago here.  Well, if you're thinking when is the right time to invest in gold, the answer is NOW!!

Did you ever heard of the Greek Debt Crisis?  Well, the crisis has shaken the EU stock markets and its currencies with the euro hit a 14-month low.  Almost at the same time, the Wall Street also had announced that the heat already reached them. The Dow Jones industrial average on Thursday last week saw a nose-dive that dragged the index into its biggest ever intra-day drop in terms of points, a fall of 998.5 points at its low point which translated into nearly USD1 trillion was wiped off US equity values.  Read more here and here.

So what the news have anything to do with buying gold? Ahah... good question, read further!

While the value of major Europe stock markets and currencies fell - including the euro, there are very little ordinary investors like us can do, except for hedging for a better position.  Gold, along with other major currencies - such as the yen and financial instruments - such as government bonds, will provide the best hedging option.  For instance, gold jumped more than 3 percent last Wednesday, to top $1,200 an ounce in the biggest one-day gain in more than a year.

Talks among the economists are that soon Portugal and Spain will also join Greece in the Debt Crisis league. So, there will be sometime before the EU regulators can regain full control of the situation. That will allow enough time for gold to further rally its value.  Read more here and here.

So, what do you waiting for??  Let's invest in GOLD

More good news to come!!

The government will be announcing the the first quarter Growth Domestic Product (GDP) in the next few days.  PM Najib said in a report today that Malaysia's economic recovery is promising and more good news to come.  Read more here.

Well, thanks to the right economy recovery measures taken by BN Government, led by DS Najib in the early days of his premiership's tenure, the nation economy are now set to shine again.  Congratulation to DS Najib and his team.

I hope the government will remain focus and strive their effort to put back Malaysia economy on the right & fast track soon.  Too much politicking isn't good for all us, to stay healthy - both economically and mentally.  Just let our Brader Anwar and his dickhead zombies jump ship with their pumpkins.
